Celebrate the freedom to read with Denver Public Library and Fiction Beer in celebrating Banned Books Week 2024 (9/22-28), themed "Freed Between the Lines." We'll play Banned Book Bingo, have coloring sheets, and signing folks up for that passport to the world, a Denver Public Library card!

Show your DPL library card and get a $1 off of your first beer.

Banned Book Swap

We're continuing our Freedom to Read programming with a banned book swap following our banned book bingo with the Denver Public Library. How it works: bring in at least one banned book for our banned book table and you'll swap for a different one.

Every year, the American Library Association's Office for Intellectual Freedom (OIF) compiles a list of the Top 10 Most Challenged Books in order to inform the public about censorship in libraries and schools. The lists are based on information from reports filed by library professionals and community members, as well as news stories published throughout the United States.

Visit the ALA website link for a list of banned/challenged books here.
